Dance Theory, With a Twist!
Looking for a new kind of fitness class? Then Diva Fusion Dance might be just what you need!
This class is a fun and flirty way to learn dance and fitness concepts by exploring the elegance of belly dance and the sass of burlesque! We will use moves like hip circles, shimmies, and arm waves to learn about the body mechanics behind movement, and how to work it into other types of physical fitness.
These beginner-friendly classes are a great way to have a low-to-moderate workout in a welcoming setting with an encouraging instructor. The class is in a follow-along style but we will not be learning a strict choreography. These workshops are good for those new to dance and seasoned performers. No dance experience is needed!
What Should I wear/bring?
Please bring a water bottle. There is also water provided at the studio. The workshops are designed to be done barefoot or in flat dance shoes like ballet flats. Please wear clothes that are easy to move in. Some options are a tank top, sports bra, T-shirt, leggings, yoga pants, or shorts. You do not need to show your belly. We will be using hip wraps in class, so if you have a hip wrap, scarf, or dance skirt feel free to bring it. Please make sure they are silent! I will also have ones to loan in class. Feel free to pull out your flirty stuff, too, as we are divas!
There are two workshop themes that will alternate. This class will be: #2
Workshop #1: Shimmy Secrets
In this workshop will focus on how to move our bodies to bring all of the different shimmies in belly dance and burlesque to life! We will explore creating dynamic performances through performance style, themes, and stage presence. We will work with both upper and lower body shimmies to shake the stress away!
Workshop #2: Circles and Waves
In this workshop will focus on how we can slow down to get in a flow for movements like hip circles, undulations, and arm waves. We will learn ways our upper and lower body can move to make fluid movements. Explore how directions, timing, and transitions can help us create unique performances. We will explore how we can adapt to different stages, create interesting angles, and make smooth transitions.

Hi, I’m Anne Silvestri, and I am a Certified Group Fitness Instructor and the owner of Return to Center Wellness. I have struggled with chronic health conditions for most of my adult life. I finally found some relief through a chronic pain management program, where I learned coping tools to help find balance in my health and wellness.
I have over 12 years of belly dance and burlesque training and performing, and am excited to bring my new creation Diva Fusion Dance to Rock Mama. Dance has so many positive health benefits and it is tons of fun, so let’s get together and shake the stress away together!
I approach my classes from both fitness and wellness perspectives. In each class, I break down each move into small pieces, then put the pieces together into one move that is best for you and your body. I strive to have the classes I provide benefit our souls as much as our bodies and minds. I believe that we never stop learning and I value everything my students teach me, too!
