About this experience

The history of wire wrapped jewelry can be dated as far back as 1446 BC. Jewelry made from stones survives prehistoric times and glass has been used in jewelry making for thousands of years.The time is ripe to step into living history!
 
You will be shown wire wrapping methods tailored to the novice crafter, but all skill levels are welcome. All tools needed will be provided for the duration of the course. Only copper wire and glass options in limited colors will be available, so you are encouraged to bring a gemstone that is meaningful to you. These can be any rock, fossil, glass, wood, or acrylic pieces.
 
Ellipse, oval, or round cabochons sized between 1" x 0.75" and 2" x 1.25" (20mm x 30mm and 55mm x 35mm) will work best. Cabochons have a smooth, domed top surface and a flat base. Any similarly shaped flattened pieces will also do. If you have copper allergies or sensitivities, feel free to bring wire of your choice (you will need one 3ft length of 24ga and three 3ft lengths of 20ga dead soft round wire).
