About this experience

Dionysus, a play in one act, is a love letter to the Greek godd of fertility, wine, and theater. Dionysus’ religious rites broke societal norms and encouraged a form of radical equality and acceptance not ever found in ancient society’s daily life. The deity became important to those outside society’s privilege, such as women, slaves, and those not conforming to gender and sexual norms. Modern pagans still revere them as the godd of ecstasy, liberation, and transformation; some reinterpret and modernize these themes for contemporary devotion and magickal practice.

Darryl Strohl-De Herrera has been performing as an actor, singer, and dancer for decades in plays, musicals, operas, choirs, ballets, and dance concerts.
He also has numerous credits choreographing and directing musicals in local community theater. While this is his first effort as playwright, he has observed and assisted other published playwrights along their journeys from draft to script. Darryl will amass a small company of actors and storytellers to bring Dionysus’ myths to life.
